Property Profile
Your property tax grievance begins with the Property Profile.
Our Property Profile display lets you easily enter details about your property. It is important to be as through as possible when completing this page. Our system relies on the information you provide to guide you throughout the grievance process.
Most of the information you need is on your tax bill: your school district, if your property is in an incorporated village along with your tax and assessment. This is important; enter your tax before any exemptions, this is the tax on your property based on your assessment. Then your deductions are applied to arrive at the amount you pay. The rates your town uses are filled in for you when your select your town.
We made it easy to enter property details, most questions use drop down menus. There is one piece of information that is usually not available in the public records is the square footage of your living space, not your property size, but the size of your house. If you don’t know it, you can go or call your towns’ assessor, they will have this information for you.
Use the Comments Area to describe anything you believe affects the value of your property (these comments will be included with your petition). Include a description of issues that you want to bring to the attention of your town’s tax board. Example: your property is on a main road (a road with a divider or single/double yellow lines) or is in close proximity to a business, take a picture and submit it with you petition. This will help with your claim.
Remember Your Purpose - to show, with the proper documentation, that the assessed value of your property should be LOWER than the value your town places on it… the end result being lower taxes.
